Victober 2023
Victober is a portmanteau of the words Victorian and October. This month long effort of gathering of readers is one that highly encourages us all to read Victorian Literature.
Works that are considered “Victorian” are those published during the 63 year-reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 until 1901. I’ve listed all the information below to help anyone who is interested in joining this beautiful community of readers.
The books I’ve chosen to read for Victober are:
The Way We Live Now by Trollope (Group Read)
Phantastes by MacDonald (1st person Narrative) + the ANNOTATED VERSION
Woman in White by Collins (stranger/outsider)
Red Pottage by Cholmondeley ("New Woman" fiction)
Silas Marner by Eliot (class features strongly)
The Stokesley Secret by Yonge (new-to-you author + 1860s Book Club)
